Damian Collopy is a Principal Adviser in Landscape Architecture & Urban Design within the Office of the Victorian Government Architect (OVGA).  He leads the OVGA's specialist advice on the Level Crossing Removal Program.  Damian practiced landscape architecture and urban design on large scale transport infrastructure projects for twenty years with the Victorian Government's major road authority. His involvement and collaboration with large multi disciplinary design teams on complex projects has ensured that landscape architecture has been an integral aspect of the design outcomes and these projects have achieved numerous urban design awards.

He has liaised closely with VicRoads Major Projects, private industry and external stakeholders to achieve high quality design outcomes and improve the experience of transport for the Victorian community.

Damian has a sound understanding of the various procurement models and associated risks for urban design on complex projects, from both a design and contractual perspective. He has contributed to project scoping, business case developments, project review committees, establishment of urban design competitions and risk management workshops.

His involvement in urban design assessment panels for major freeways, Level Crossing Removal Projects, rest areas and pedestrian bridges has resulted in improved functionality and amenity outcomes.

Damian is keen to better educate decision makers about the importance of context sensitive design and how we can improve transport systems for all users in accordance with the Transport Integration Act.
