Landscape Architect

Dean holds a Bachelor of Planning and Design (Hons) and Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1992. Dean is a Registered Landscape Architect with over 20 years experience, primarily in the private sector and more recently in the public sector. Dean spent the formative years of his career at international design practice HASSELL during which time he progressed to the position of Principal and Discipline Leader of Landscape Architecture.  

After fourteen years at HASSELL, Dean joined Meinhardt in 2011 in the position of Discipline Leader – Landscape & Urban Design (Aus). Dean’s role was to establish the Landscape & Urban Design service within Meinhardt to service existing clients and develop new work streams.

In 2013, Dean commenced at Places Victoria in the role of Senior Urban Designer. As the sole designer within the organization, Dean’s role is broad and across numerous projects.

Dean maintains an interest in the landscape architecture profession and involvement with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA). This has included past roles on award juries, interview panels for new members and currently Chair of the Education Advisory Committee responsible for RMIT’s professional accreditation with AILA.
